I dine out virtually every night and also dine at the fine establishments in downtown Chicago. In fact, there are several more casual restaurants in the area where I have never had a miss as described above. Eddie Merlot’s is uniquely designed for groups that may be larger than what our private dining rooms can accommodate. Our chef selects each steak for the optimum proportion of marbling and texture before hand-cutting and seasoning the steaks to your specifications. We pride ourselves on our prime-aged beef and scratch kitchen. I had high hopes for this midwestern-based firm, but I think they've strayed too far from home. Eddie Merlots is an homage to the man and his love of a great steak, a great glass of wine, and a good story. Then neither of the bartenders took responsibility for my service, so it was like I was waited on twice totally annoying. For a place of this caliber, this is an automatic fail. I can't image how the folks in the dining room were fairing with their cuts. Mind you, this is a high end steakhouse where steaks cost upwards of $90. They opted to replace it, and the second one came out rare again. The second to last visit I was hankering for that burger again. The burger was the best in recent memory, and on a return visit the ahi tacos were a food experience. I only eat at the bar and the presentation and service were great. My first visit to this new entrant to the Denver market was excellent. ![]()
